Our commitment to transparency
Orb Lab Mesh is committed to being straightforward about the commercial relationships that may exist alongside the content on this website. This page explains our position on affiliate arrangements, sponsored material, and third-party advertising networks — so you can read our content knowing where our interests lie.
We do not believe that transparency is merely a compliance requirement. It is part of how we build trust with the organisations that consider working with us.
1. Affiliate relationships
Participation in affiliate programmes
Orb Lab Mesh may, from time to time, include links to third-party products or services. Where we participate in an affiliate programme, we may receive a commission if you follow such a link and subsequently make a purchase or sign up for a service. Any such relationship will be clearly indicated.
Commission-based links
Where a link carries affiliate tracking, it functions identically to a standard link for you as the visitor — you pay the same price, and the commission comes from the merchant's budget, not from you. We note these links where they appear.
Editorial independence
The existence of an affiliate relationship does not influence the editorial position of any content on this site. We do not recommend products or services solely because we may receive a commission. Affiliate income, where it occurs, is a secondary consideration.
Financial relationships disclosed
We disclose material financial relationships in line with applicable guidelines, including those of Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency and, where relevant, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
2. Sponsored content
Paid promotions
If any content on this site has been produced in exchange for payment, free products, or other compensation from a third party, it will be clearly identified as sponsored at the point of publication.
Labelling policy
Sponsored content will be labelled in a way that is clearly visible before you begin reading — not buried in footnotes or made ambiguous through styling choices. The label will use plain language: "Sponsored", "Paid partnership", or similar.
Brand partnerships
Where Orb Lab Mesh collaborates with an external organisation for a piece of content, the nature of that partnership is disclosed. We retain editorial control over the content produced, and partners do not have the right to approve or veto our conclusions.
Authenticity
Sponsored content reflects our genuine assessment of the subject where an assessment is made. We do not produce favourable content to order.
3. Third-party advertising
Display advertising networks
This website may display advertisements served by third-party networks, including Google. These networks may use cookies and related technologies to serve advertisements based on your browsing history across other sites.
Behavioural targeting
Advertisements shown on this site may be personalised based on your prior online activity. This personalisation is carried out by the advertising network, not by Orb Lab Mesh directly. You can opt out through the network's settings or through your browser's cookie controls.
Cookie usage for advertising
Advertising-related cookies are only placed with your consent. You can manage your preferences through our Cookie Policy page.
Ad personalisation practices
Where ad personalisation is enabled, data from your visit may be shared with advertising partners to improve the relevance of ads shown to you on this and other sites. This applies only where you have given consent.
4. Your rights and controls
Ad preference management
You can manage your advertising preferences at any time through our cookies page. This allows you to opt out of analytics and advertising cookies without affecting the core functionality of the site.
Opt-out procedures
You may also opt out of personalised advertising through the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out tool or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page. For Google-specific controls, visit Google's Ads Settings.
Data collection for advertising
Any data collected in connection with advertising is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of data held about you.
Regulatory rights
Under applicable Japanese and EU data protection law, you have rights in relation to personal data used for advertising. These are set out more fully in our Privacy Policy. To exercise any right, contact us via our contact page.
